March Madness: The Weil Bankruptcy Blog’s Sweet Sixteen

In the spirit of March Madness, we’ve asked the attorneys in Weil’s Business Finance & Restructuring department to compile a list of the most influential, transformative, or game-changing U.S. bankruptcy decisions of all time – a “Sweet Sixteen of Bankruptcy.”  In the coming weeks, we’ll be asking you to decide the winners of each matchup and crown the ultimate champion of our Big Dance of Bankruptcy.  Will it be crowd-favorite and number one seed 203 North LaSalle?  Will Philadelphia Newspapers pull out an early bracket-busting victory over Owens Corning?  Or will Chateaugay (the “Krzyzewski” of the bankruptcy world) leverage its home-turf advantage to a coveted spot in the Final Four?  Unlike your NCAA bracket (from which you’ve undoubtedly already been eliminated from contention), you decide the winners of the 2011 Bankruptcy Blog Bracket.   So keep checking in with us to vote on the next round of heavyweight matchups.   At the conclusion, we’ll announce which Gatorade-soaked decision will celebrate “One Shining Moment” as it cuts down the nets on either end of the [bankruptcy] court.   In the immortal words of Dick Vitale (and, we’ve heard, Vern Countryman), “It’s awesome, baby!”

Today’s Sweet Sixteen bracket picks must be submitted by 5 p.m. Thursday.  Click on each case to see our take on the decision.
