Weil was named a top global law firm for cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters in the 2023 edition of Global Restructuring Review’s GRR 30. The Firm ranked third on the list, improving on its top 10 ranking in 2022.

The publication noted that Weil successfully handled “big-name” matters in the last year, including advising the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors to Cineworld in its cross-border restructuring, the court-appointed officers in Orpea SA’s French proceedings, ad hoc groups of secured lenders in the restructurings of Nordic Aviation Capital and Seadrill Limited, and Scandinavian Airlines System in its chapter 11 restructuring. GRR also documented the history of Weil’s preeminent Restructuring Department that “originated the modern bankruptcy practice.”

One Weil client told the publication that “hiring the firm has made all the difference in the world in terms of success of each matter,” while another said “the firm is truly an expert in the law, but they also have tremendous business acumen and they provide great industry and market insight in each matter.”

The GRR 30 is an annual guide to the world’s leading cross-border restructuring and insolvency practices, and is an elite selection chosen from the GRR 100 guide. Rankings are based on extensive research, including firm submissions and client interviews.
