Stephen Karotkin, Matthew Goren and Jessica Liou were recognized for their success in the year’s most complex and significant matters

Three Weil partners have been recognized with “2021 Turnaround and Transaction of the Year Awards” from the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). The awards honor the top restructuring professionals in the industry for their success in the year’s most complex and significant matters.

Restructuring consultant Stephen Karotkin and partners Matthew Goren and Jessica Liou were recognized for their accomplishments leading the landmark chapter 11 restructuring of PG&E Corporation, named “Mega Company Turnaround/Transaction of the Year.” Stephen Karotkin, who retired from partnership in 2020, spearheaded PG&E’s $59 billion restructuring, leading a Weil team anchored by Matthew Goren and Jessica Liou.

The TMA awards committee selected the winning turnarounds and transactions from a competitive pool of over 90 submissions. The professionals that worked on the award-winning matters will be recognized for their achievements at the TMA Annual Conference from October 26 to 29, 2021.

TMA is a non-profit global organization for professionals in the turnaround, restructuring and corporate health space.
