Every nine seconds, a woman in the United States is beaten or assaulted. Around the world, one in three women has been abused during her lifetime. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women. These are grim statistics, but Weil’s bankruptcy bloggers are not taking it sitting down.
We’re lacing up our sneakers and climbing 42 flights of stairs to the roof of one of Manhattan’s many skyscrapers as part of inMotion’s annual Story-by-Story stair climb. InMotion is a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to low-income women in New York City designed to address the unique needs of women who suffer from abuse – most of its clients are survivors of domestic violence. InMotion also focuses on reaching women living in immigrant communities who are isolated by language and cultural barriers.
