Restructuring partner Candace M. Arthur has been named an “Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyer” by Turnarounds & Workouts for 2021. She is among just 12 attorneys under the age of 40 recognized for their work on the industry’s most prominent bankruptcies and restructurings.
Candace was recognized for her expertise and achievements in an array of complex restructurings over the past year. She advised J.Crew Group, Inc. in its prearranged chapter 11 restructuring, an efficient and streamlined proceeding that enabled the iconic retailer to convert more than $1.6 billion of debt into equity, raise over $400 million in new financing and preserve its workforce.
The publication also noted her work advising AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. in a series of capital raising and restructuring efforts, including a complex restructuring of approximately $2.6 billion of notes in an out-of-court exchange transaction. She also helped lead Weil’s New York restructuring team on new financing for Odeon Group, securing a £400 million term loan facility agreement. Candace was also recognized for representing specialty pharmaceutical company Insys Therapeutics in its high-profile chapter 11 case, and for advising lenders in the chapter 11 restructuring of Garrett Motion Inc.
The accolade follows recognition from Bloomberg Law, which recently profiled Candace as one of the top young bankruptcy lawyers currently “raising the bar” in the practice area.
Turnarounds & Workouts, a monthly newsletter for professionals tracking distressed businesses in the United States and Canada, named the “Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers” in a special report published in the April 2021 issue.
